Of course, we had visitors! (again). This time I know for sure they are the eldest people that will ever visit us. They are more than 80 years old each one and they are lovely and grumpy, adorable and grouchy at the same time.
Having elderly people has been a challenge for us because dutch houses are definitely not made for them. I really wonder what happens when the elderly cannot use the stairs anymore, because let's face it... this narrow houses with almost spiral staircases can be a pain if you are not on top form. Even for us, it was difficult at the beginning and also for Pichí (our cat). And we have to be grateful because our stairs are not completely in a spiral shape and steps are open (otherwise I am sure our foot wouldn't fit completely in the steps and this would make it even more difficult). At least we do have a banister which is really helpful for those not accustomed to going upstairs and downstairs several times a day.
We are very proud of Emilia and Félix because many people, and probably even younger than them, would wish to have both the vitality and courage needed for going on a trip like this. Thanks for coming!

Hey Pilar & Daniel! Very interesting to read this. Never knew Dutch stairs are so special. :) I grew up with small steep stairs, as most houses have them here. Mostly there's carpet on them to make them less noisy and also to break your fall, haha. I think I only fell down a stair once, but thats because I'm always only using the even stairs (number 2,4,6)... regards Arno
