The Dutch agenda / La agenda holandesa

We all know they keep it close to themselves. It's difficult to touch it, it's almost impossible to take a glance at its content and of course we could never dream of having one in our hands... but the day has come. Ladies and gentlemen, I'm proud to announce that this humble blogger had access to one of the world's best kept secrets: a real Dutch agenda. We cannot reveal how it ended up in our hands, but it did... for a few seconds, it did.

Let's analyze this picture together:

• It has a weekly view with a small monthly view on top
• All days are clearly divided and have at least one activity
• A (still undecipherable) color coding is noticeable
• The agenda is big enough to hold extra documents...
• ...yet small enough to be kept in a handbag
• There's a mysterious hand on the top right corner: the agendas thief!

But the most important conclusion is... Yes! They are busy! They really are. Do not try to surprise a Dutch person with a sudden visit or suggest a spontaneous plan. They will need to look it up in their agendas and it's possible that the only available spot is two months from now. Be respectful and adapt to their rhythm, maybe you will end up having an agenda too (though not my case... yet!)

Todos sabemos que la guardan muy cerca. Es difícil tocarla, es casi imposible echarle un vistazo, y por supuesto nunca podríamos soñar con tenerla en nuestras manos... pero el día ha llegado. Señoras y señores, estoy orgullosa de anunciar que esta humilde 'blogger' ha tenido acceso a uno de los mejores secretos guardados del mundo: una agenda holandesa de verdad. No podemos revelar cómo ha llegado a nuestras manos, pero lo hizo... por unos segundos, lo hizo.

Analicemos la foto juntos:

• Tiene una vista semanal con una pequeña vista mensual arriba
• Todos los días están claramente delimitados y tienen al menos una actividad
• Un (aún indescifrable) código de colores es claramente perceptible
• La agenda es lo suficientemente grande para albergar documentos extra...
• ... y a la vez lo suficientemente pequeña para caber en un bolso
• Hay una mano misteriosa en la esquina superior derecha: ¡el ladrón de agendas!

Pero la más importante conclusión es... ¡Sí, están muy ocupados! Realmente lo están. No intentes sorprender a un holandés con una repentina visita o sugerir un plan espontáneo. Necesitarán consultar su agenda y es posible que el único momento disponible esté a dos meses vista. Respétalo y adáptate a su ritmo, quizá tú mismo termines teniendo una agenda también (aunque no es mi caso... ¡aún!)
